Mr. Janus says hi, 2023

Exhibited at Drifting Time Misplaced curated by Eva Slabá at Mono, Lisbon, Portugal.

Like doors that have two sides, this god was the gatekeeper of the divine court, and with his two faces, he could look at opposite places. It symbolized endings and beginnings, the past and the future, and the relative dualism of all things.

"Mr. Janus says hi" is a fiberglass and resin sculpture that intends to rethink the history of statuary and its function through this character who acts as an exhibition "hostess." Thus, it presents the asymmetry of time, the discontinuity of certainty, the flows of lives, and the expectations that almost always fall out of sync with the clock.
